This year, Fairyloot finally launched a book only option for their monthly YA subscription. I have been looking forward to this option and was excited to get my first book.
The May theme was ‘Cloak & Dagger’ and the book chosen was The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah.
I am really behind with some of these unboxings that I took photos of ages ago but haven’t got round to posting! April 2022 was the second book in Fairyloot’s new Adult book only subscription.
The theme of the second box was ‘Divine Power’ and the book chosen was The City of Dusk by Tara Sim.

As I’ve now switched to the book only option, the April 2022 box was my last full box. It might miss out on some great future items, but I just didn’t want my space getting cluttered with so many things, so I think the book only is the right option for me.

Read More » Fairyloot recently launched a new monthly subscription offering an exclusive edition of an Adult fantasy book. Unlike their original YA subscription which includes a selection of bookish items, their Adult sub comes with just a book.
As I enjoy reading a mix of YA and Adult fantasy, I was excited to try out the new subscription and see what books they would choose. For their first box, Fairyloot’s theme was ‘Dark Academia’ and they picked The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake.
Illumicrate’s featured book for March was Gallant by V. E. Schwab! I have only read a couple of her books so far but loved them so I was really excited Illumicrate would be doing Gallant so I could add another special edition to my Schwab collection. Although I decided I didn’t like getting a box every month, I will still get the occasional one when the theme and book is right up my street.

Read More » This box was just so stunning! Daughter of Smoke and Bone is one of my favourite books so I knew I had to have this box. It did not disappoint! This was Illumicrate’s final special edition box of the year and came about a month later than planned, but it was totally worth the wait. When I opened the box, I gasped as I saw each item. The box was packed so full, they had to use large, plain brown boxes instead of their usual branded special edition boxes as they couldn’t fit everything in!
I was super excited for this month’s Fairyloot box as I’d guessed what the book was and it’s one of my most anticipated releases of the year!

The theme for August is ‘Let The Games Begin’, though I’m not really sure how the items connect to this theme. Perhaps there are more subtle connections that someone who has read the books the items are inspired by would understand? Also, this unboxing photo is missing an item as I took out the bath bomb straight away because the smell was so strong!
Read More » I have to say I wasn’t that excited for this box but I absolutely loved it! Even though the theme sounded good, I hadn’t read many of the books mentioned in the fandom list, so wasn’t sure how much I would like the items. However, most of the items you can enjoy even if you’ve not read the book they’re inspired by which I was really glad about.
