I am really behind with some of these unboxings that I took photos of ages ago but haven’t got round to posting! April 2022 was the second book in Fairyloot’s new Adult book only subscription.

The theme of the second box was ‘Divine Power’ and the book chosen was The City of Dusk by Tara Sim.

The Fairyloot edition has an exclusive cover, switching the original black cover for a white background with the same central image in the circle in the middle. I like the colour change and think it makes the image in the middle stand out more.

The edges are sprayed a solid black and there is a design on the endpapers by @blanca.design, plus foil embossing on the case also by @blanca.design. There is also a ribbon bookmark and the book is signed by the author. I’m not a massive fan of plain black edges but they work with the colour scheme of the rest of the book. I love the embossing on the hardcover!

I have heard mixed reviews for this book but the summary is so intriguing and sounds like something I would enjoy, so I really hope I do like this one.
