This box was just so stunning! Daughter of Smoke and Bone is one of my favourite books so I knew I had to have this box. It did not disappoint! This was Illumicrate’s final special edition box of the year and came about a month later than planned, but it was totally worth the wait. When I opened the box, I gasped as I saw each item. The box was packed so full, they had to use large, plain brown boxes instead of their usual branded special edition boxes as they couldn’t fit everything in!

So let’s unpack the box and see what was inside!

Angel & Devil book ends designed by Noverantale – This is easily my favourite item in the box. Book ends are so useful and this set is just stunning!

Soul thurible designed by Illumicrate – This is a replica of the thuribles from Daughter of Smoke and Bone. From what I remember, they’re used to capture souls, which are later resurrected. I always think replica items really bring the stories to life so I loved this.

Smoke and Bone book sleeve with artwork by Monolime and quote design by Chatty Nora – This book sleeve is quite big, it comfortably fit Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and the material has a really nice feel to it.

A Door Between Worlds book tin with artwork by Rosie Thorns – The artwork on this tin is great and I love tins and boxes! But this does feel a bit big. I guess it’s hardback size so if you put it on your shelf it matches the height of a hardback? But it just seems really big!

Wishbone enamel pin – It’s been too long since I’ve read this book, I really need to re-read it! But I remember the wishbone being important so this is a really well thought out item.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone foiled print with artwork by Merwild – This print is stunning and I love the gold foiling. This will definitely be going on display somewhere!

Fluttering Dreams Mug with artwork by Rosie Thorns – This is the only item in the box inspired by one of Laini Taylor’s other books – Strange the Dreamer – and features Sarai and Lazlo. The artwork is amazing but it has printed a little dark on the mug.

The book is an exclusive 10^th Anniversary signed hardback edition, featuring a new illustration by Peter Strain. This edition has a foiled hidden design, sprayed edges and artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket by Jim Di Bartolo. This edition is so beautiful and I love the artwork on both sides of the dust jacket!

Overall, I was very pleased with this box. It was full to the brim and every item seemed to have been thoughtfully considered. Illumicrate have put together another excellent special edition box and I’m excited to see what they will come up with for 2021!
