Wrap Up: 2021 in Books

It’s time to do a wrap up of all the books I read last year! I hit my goal of reading 35 books by reading 36. I am pleased I managed to read so many, despite having a bit of a rough year health-wise. I ended the year with quite a few audiobooks as I’ve been struggling with back and shoulder pain. Because of this continuing issue, I have set a lower goal for 2022 to avoid any unnecessary pressure, and am aiming to read 25 books.

I started using StoryGraph in 2021 and the site comes with some very interesting graphs! I seem to read a fairly even amount of slow/medium/fast paced books, which isn’t surprising as I do like to mix it up and read a variety of paces. It seems I don’t read many short books, generally going for medium length. I mostly read print books in 2021, but did read a lot more audiobooks than in 2020. I expect I’ll probably read mostly audiobooks this year, depending how I get on at the hospital and whether my health improves.

2021 was a fantastic reading year and I can’t wait to see what new books I discover in 2022! How was your reading year, what books did you love? Chat with me in the comments!

  1. I’m so proud of you on finishing The Queen Of Air And Darkness 🥺❤️
I have read all the books but I’m meaning to read the last book, seeing the bulkiness I have been stalling 😚🤣🤣🙈🥴
Also Story Graph is such a great one, it is a game changer for all readers!

  2. Oooh I really like using the Storygraph! I haven’t completely transitioned over because I think the social features are better on goodreads so now I have to remember to update both, which is a bit of a challenge haha. Congratulations on meeting your reading goal and I hope you enjoy your reading in the new year as well!

      • I think I’ll probably transfer over at some point, but I think it’ll be a case of once Storygraph becomes big enough that goodreads feels redundant I’ll make the leap haha. I also haven’t imported all of my old reading into storygraph (just 2021 and now 2022) because my goodreads goes back a long way and doesn’t really reflect my reading tastes now, so I didn’t want it to influence my storygraph, but equally I still want it there to look back on haha. Maybe I’m over complicating things tho lol. And thank you^_^

  3. Exactly!! I see it and it gives me guilt now cause I really loved lord of shadows and the cliffhanger at end, aahh I seriously need to pick up that book! Maybe your post inspires me to finish it this year, who knows!? Haha I’ll let you know if I read it lmao
Also agreed, seeing the graph feels like seeing finance 😜😂😂😂
