Top 10 Tuesday was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish, but has now moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. If you’re interested in taking part click here. For today’s Halloween freebie, I decided to pick out 10 of my favourite books that give me Halloween vibes!
The Beautiful by Reneé Ahdieh – This book is so luscious and mysterious. There are dark murders and vampires so of course it makes this list.
The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray by Chris Wooding – This was one of my favourite books as a teen. I read it over and over. It’s been a while since my last reread though! I found this book spine-tingling and loved it so much.
Poison by Chris Wooding – Another spooky read from Chris Wooding. I don’t remember this one as well as Alaizabel, but I know it was a creepy read!
Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee – I’m so glad I picked this one up, despite my trepidation at the spider content, because I loved the story. The trees are also really creepy! I can’t wait for the sequel to come out next year!
The Twisted Tree by Rachel Burge – I was on the edge of my seat throughout this one. It definitely gave me Halloween vibes.
The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman – Apparently, I have a thing for spooky trees/forests? I have the sequel, The Deck of Omens, waiting on my shelf too which I am super excited for.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab – This book isn’t exactly scary or spooky, but it does involve a deal with the devil.
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow – A historical book that combines witches and feminism? Yes! I had an eARC of this one and really enjoyed it.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley – How could this classic not make the list? Frankenstein is one of my favourite classics.
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen – This is one of my favourite Austen novels. It’s a satire of the Gothic novels that were popular at the time.

The cover of The Twisted Tree is so cool! It reminds me of Frances Hardinge’s covers, which I would definitely recommend for Halloween.
I love the cover for The Twisted Tree, it’s so creative! I’ve not read any of Frances Hardinge’s books yet but I’ve been meaning to check them out.
I haven’t read any of these, but they all look like great Halloween reads! I’m especially interested in THE DEVOURING GRAY. I love that cover!
They are all really good! The Devouring Gray is great, I would definitely recommend!
I’m so intrigued by The Twisted Tree.
It’s a great book and very spooky, would thoroughly recommend!
It’s not YA but The Familiars by Stacey Halls is probably my favourite Halloween-y read. It’s set during the real life Pendle Witch Trials and has a female friendship kind of focus which I loved. I’ve had The Devouring Gray on my shelf for a while though, I really need to give that a read!
Ooh sounds interesting! You should definitely read The Devouring Gray, it’s so good!
Good list! I’m not into creepy but read Dracula and Frankenstein without problems. I have scary new books–including the Once and Future Witches. Come on over!
Dracula is another good Halloween book!
I’m actually reading both Addie LaRue and The Devouring Gray right now. The Devouring Gray has been only ok for me, but I’m really enjoying Addie.

I really loved The Devouring Gray, I hope you enjoy it more by the end! Oh Addie is so good! I was worried it wouldn’t live up to my expectations but I needn’t have worried.
It’s not bad, I just haven’t loved it. AGH IT’S AMAZING, I DON’T WANT IT TO END BECAUSE I KNOW IT’S GOING TO HURT SO BAD!
I really want to read The Beautiful!
It’s so good, I’m planning on re-reading it before I read the sequel!
Thanks for reminding me about Forest of Stars. It looks so good!
Check out my TTT
Forest of Souls is so good!
What a great Halloween list! I really need to get around to The Devouring Gray. I mean, how spooky is that cover?
The Devouring Gray is brilliant and the cover is amazing too!
